Join Jen & Jodi for the 2nd Annual Real Good Toys Facebook Build-Along Project

Friday, January 6th, 2012

Did you enjoy putting puzzles together or playing with blocks when you were a kid?  Real Good Toys is ready to return to that carefree time in our lives with our NEW 2012 Facebook Build-Along Project.

The NEW Puzzle Dollhouse Kit consists of 70 pieces and offers various sizes of rectangles and triangles in 1/4” and 3/8” thick MDF (medium density fiberboard).  The (2) floor panels measure (1/4”) 12 13/16” by 8 31/32”.  These pieces can be arranged to create many different styles of dollhouses as well as varying roof designs.

This project can be as simple or as detailed as you choose.  Each kit will have a parts list and a sample block layout page to get you started.  We’re positive, once you start playing with these puzzle pieces, you will really start to think outside … the blocks!

Jodi & I are both planning to use 2 kits because “the more blocks…the more fun!”  We hope you’ll consider joining us on this new mini adventure.  We’re positive you’ll learn some new techniques and make new friends along the way.  Check out all the details and see many sample pictures by clicking here!

Miniature Memories Annual Kids Kamp Builds Real Good Toys Lemon Twist Dollhouse Kit

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Miniature Memories LLC in Tucson, Arizona conducted it’s Annual Kids Kamp in July 2010.  They had two sessions, the first one was July 13th – 17th and they had 10 participants ranging in age from 9-13.  This session had nine girls and one boy.  The second session was July 27th – 31st and they had four participants ranging in age from 8-80 (yes 80!).

Bob Hinske, co-owner of Miniature Memories LLC, led each group of eager dollhouse miniaturists!  They met each day from 10AM – 2PM.  Each participant built the Milled MDF Lemon Twist dollhouse kit.  They upgraded each dollhouse kit to include shingles.  During each session, the “kids” were able to assemble the house, paint the exterior, interior & exterior window and door trims, as well as shingle the roof.

Bob said it was “great experience” for everyone.  The kids did a terrific job with their Lemon Twist dollhouse kit so we’ve posted their finished pictures for all to see.  Check it out and let us know what you think!  All of the kids involved should be really proud of their finished dollhouse!

Bob & Cindy Hinske have had great success with their Annual Kids Kamp!  If you would like to learn more about this opportunity and many others they offer, visit their website and contact them directly!

Real Good Toys Dollhouse in the Movies Again!

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Has anybody seen the movie “Inception” with Leonardo DiCaprio?  If so, you may have recognized the dollhouse, which was shown as a main prop of the movie.  Real Good Toys Front-Opening Country Victorian dollhouse kit was built and painted in a beautiful burgundy.  The dollhouse was a key element of this movie and  I would love to tell you more…but I can’t ruin it for anybody who hasn’t seen it yet.

“Inception” is Christopher Nolan’s latest narrative about an espionage expert who taps into people’s dreams and steals their secrets.

If you’ve seen the movie, let us know your thoughts!  We’d love to hear what you think about the movie and our featured dollhouse.

Museum of Miniatures: CBS explores the Dollhouse World

Earliest Dollhouse - Museum of the City of New York

I found an old handwritten note the other day about a great news broadcast about dollhouses and miniatures.  “A World Of Dollhouses” was aired on CBS Sunday Morning in December, 2007.

In the video, Rita Braver takes a tour through the tiny world of doll houses. Some of the displayed models were built from Real Good Toys dollhouse kits! The video also highlights some phenomenal miniature collections from Ginger Landon Siegal’s collection and the Museum of the City of New York dollhouses.

Many adults may consider dollhouses mere child’s play, but doll house collecting is now a lucrative business.  You can read the full article, “It’s A Small World After All,” which goes more in depth into the subject.

I hope you enjoyed the show and the article.  Please add your comments for others to enjoy.

Do not miss this amazing dollhouse video!

It features the Great American Dollhouse Museum and showcases a brilliant collection of historical, contemporary and fantasy miniatures and dollhouses. Of course it was wonderful to see so many beautiful Real Good Toys dollhouses were on display. It’s truly AMAZING!

Have a good day.  Chris
