Hello World

Every beginner website designer’ first homework is to write the code that says “Hello World” on a browser’s screen.  It stuck in my mind because it’s a symbol of what’s good about this way to connect with people.  It has an underlying optimism, a confirmation that we’re not just a billboard - we are real people, we are neighbors.  The internet takes away distance as a way of identifying a neighbor, but a blog gives back the capacity to share common interests, to talk things over,  to argue and disagree – but to agree too and to support and add to each other’s experience… and that’s what I get from my neighbors in my little town, at least when the busyness of life lets me walk over and say hi.

So, Hello World… Hi neighbor
